Explorer 5
Welcome to Explorer 5. We are a Key Stage 1 class. Vicky is our class teacher. Julie is the TA. Sophie and Emma are the ISAs.
Autumn 2:
This half term our topic has been ‘Starry Night’ we have taken part in lots of sensory activities and looked at celebrations such as Bonfire night.
The children experienced a flame-free bonfire during learning outside the classroom and sampled marshmallows. They got creative with glue, paint and glitter creating firework themed artwork.
We shared a wonderful trip to Winter Wonderland at the Snowdome, with our carers and teachers, enjoying snow play, a Christmas show and got to meet some furry animals. We had several special events in school, including Christmas dinner, the Snow Globe inflatable and Christmas jumper day.
Our Christmas celebrations have included lots of glitter, painting and sensory experiences.
We have worked hard during our maths and phonics lessons and continue to practice our communication skills daily.
Maths The focus in Maths was ‘colour'. We have taken part in activities in which we have matched and identified colours. English The children have been enjoying our themed sensory stories. They have enjoyed listening to the story and having the opportunity to explore a range of sensory activities in the tuff trays and messy play. We have introduced colourful semantics. In phonics the children will continue to explore set 1 sounds and letters m,a,s,d,t.
