Hazel

Welcome to Hazel Class. We are a lower KS2 class in the semi formal pathway. Our teacher is Kay, our TA’s are Helen (Monday – Wednesday) and Jo (Thursday and Friday). Our ISA’s are Louise and Anna.

We learn through practical application and lots of opportunities to practice with small group work, continuous provision activities, sensory exploration, write dance and learning outside the classroom.

This half term we are learning about Our Local area in our topic lessons; learning about where we live, what is in our area. We have looked at where we live on Google maps and created our own map using the happy land toys and train set.

In English we are looking at books that tell us about where w live. We have read, ‘We are going on a Bear Hunt’ and re-enacted the story in sensory form. We will be studying other books with a similar theme.

Our maths area is making number to 10, matching number to different amounts. For this half term we are developing our number skills up to 100 by ordering, partitioning and matching amounts linked to the White Rose Maths scheme Years 1-2 work.

In Science we are learning about our school our adventure. We have been preparing our planting bed to plant seeds and make a timeline of them growing into plants, fruit and vegetables. They will deepen their knowledge through structured experiments and independent learning through continuous provision.
