Spruce
Overview of class.
Welcome to Spruce Class. We are an upper KS2 class in the semi formal pathway. Our teacher is Steph, our TA is Zoe and our ISAs are Sienna and Sallyann. We learn through practical application and lots of opportunities to practice with small group work and lots of 1.1 work, sensory exploration, attention autism and learning outside the classroom.
This half term we are learning about World War 2 in our topic lessons; learning about what happened, what life was like with rationing and air raids, making animations with toy soldiers and trucks.
In English we are looking at the book ' The Suitcase' We are developing our reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, describing characters, ordering and how the characters are feeling.
In Maths, we are learning about place value. We have been exploring the value of each digit in a number. The children are practising reading, writing and ordering as well as using practical resources to deepen their understanding. This is linked to the White Rose Maths Scheme Reception.
In Science, we are learning about light and sound. We have been exploring different sources of light and discussing how light helps us to see the world around us. We are also investigating sound, learning how sounds are made through vibrations. Through practical activities and investigations, the children are developing their observation skills and scientific understanding while having fun discovering how light and sound
